Northwesting It

We are officially crazy people.  Double header weddings across the country was probably a bad idea, but it just worked out so perfectly!  We were a little worried we would be exhausted with the traveling and time change for wedding number 2.. but we were so energized by our couples that wasn’t a problem at all.  Wedding number one was on the blog earlier this week and wedding number two will be up next week!
.
So after our crazy double header we took a few days to travel the northwest.  I had never been to Seattle, and neither of us had been to Portland, so we decided to make a little vacation out of it.  We were basically dead people after two back-to-back weddings, so we took our first day in Seattle to sleep in, eat a huge breakfast, and of course go watch the England Euro 2016 game.  And that was it.  So the next day we went tourist crazy.  We bought a “city pass” which I think comes with a fanny pack, high socks, suntan lotion, and selfie stick.. ok not really.. but it did turn us into uber tourists.  But it was PERFECT for two people who can’t make decisions to save their lives.  We went on a harbor tour, to the Seattle aquarium, walked through Pike Market, went to the EMP museum, the Chihuly Glass and gardens, watched the sunset at the top of the Space Needle, and went to a top rated Yelp restaurant “Serious Pie” for dinner.. all in one day!  The city pass gave us 9 days to use all the tickets.. haha.
.
Then we seriously slept in… and left late for Portland.  We drove to the Columbia River Gorge and took an easy hike around Steigerwald Lake.  Then we went into Portland.  We’d heard that while in Portland the best things to do are eat and drink, so we took that very seriously.  We hit two breweries that night, one of which was a nonprofit!  Ex Novo is the first nonprofit brewery in the country.. “better beer for the greater good”.. we loved it.  I think it may have given Michael some brewing goals.. Then we went to stay with Michael’s cousin who is in Portland for the summer!
.
The next couple of days we did a lot more eating and drinking.  Including indulging in some Voodoo Donuts and Salt & Straw Ice cream.. best ice cream I’ve EVER had!

And since we are the WORST at using our real camera on vacations you can view our trip through the eyes of our social media accounts.. Laura’s insta: @laura_d_archer Michael’s insta: michael_w_archer Our snapchat: michael-laura
