Hey friends! Today we’re so excited to share Megan and Drew’s Richmond museum district fall engagement session that we recently shot right here at the VMHC and Monument Ave. We had a blast capturing them in some of our favorite locations… Starting off at a spot that’s quickly become a top choice for us!

We kicked things off near the Virginia Museum of History and Culture. It’s a quiet gem just a block down from the VMFA. While the VMFA is a gorgeous setting, it’s often packed with people. And we thought it’d be fun to switch it up since they’re already tying the knot there. This alternate spot has a beautiful, open lawn, columns, and just an overall classic vibe. It’s a dream location with plenty of variety and hardly anyone around, which is perfect for helping our couples relax.

Virginia Museum of History and Culture

As Megan and Drew arrived, they came up the big staircase, and we started off with some shots in this peaceful area. They were absolute naturals—so sweet and genuine together, which made capturing candid moments effortless. There are so many spots at the front of the museum, and with nobody around, we were spoiled with options! After a bit, they switched outfits, and we headed to Monument Avenue. Let me tell you, the fall colors were putting on a show! Richmond really was showing off that day! The trees were just vibrant, adding this amazing pop of color to their photos.

At one point, we had a little fun throwing leaves for that dreamy “falling leaves” effect, but let’s just say the wind had other plans and sent them flying right into Megan and Drew! Thankfully, they were such good sports about it, and we tried again with some adjustments (and less wind!). After that, we strolled around some favorite spots near the Branch Museum, capturing their playful energy along the brick walls and charming streets.

We ended on Monument Avenue, where you can’t walk a block without finding the perfect photo backdrop. They were game for everything we suggested, including crossing the cobblestone road while I snapped photos from the middle of the street—don’t worry, no cars were involved! It was a perfect finish to a fun and vibrant session.
