We recently had the pleasure of photographing Hannah and Sam’s engagement session at Belle Isle. And it was a blast! Belle Isle is one of our favorite spots for engagement sessions because of its blend of natural beauty and historic charm. From the scenic views of the James River to the forested trails and the iconic footbridge, Belle Isle has so much to offer for couples—and Hannah and Sam’s was no exception!

These two brought so much joy and energy to their session. Hannah and Sam are an adventurous couple who weren’t afraid to explore the island and embrace its rugged beauty. The great thing about Belle Isle is the variety! Once you cross over the bridge, there’s a large overgrown field, before you hit the trails around the Island. They trusted us enough to walk through the long grass and adventurous enough to hop on some rocks into the James River! Their playful spirit and deep connection were so easy to capture—it felt like we were photographing two best friends having fun together.

Golden Hour – Belle Isle Richmond Engagement Photos

We always recommend shooting at Belle Isle around golden hour, and Hannah and Sam’s session was no different. The soft, golden sunlight made everything glow, adding a dreamy feel to their photos. Some of our favorite moments came as the sun was setting while they were walking back across the footbridge! Hannah and Sam looked so comfortable and in love, whether they were posing or just enjoying the moment together.
