Today we are sharing Jessica and Wes’ Cultural Arts Museum Richmond Wedding. They just got married at the Glen Allen Cultural Arts Center just north of Richmond.
This is the first time we have been to this venue. The cultural arts center is actually a really cool building. It’s on a pretty large property and has several different spaces the couples can use. There is a gallery where the cocktail hour took place, a large courtyard patio/garden area where the ceremony and reception were, as well as an entirely different building that has a ballroom available.
The courtyard area was definitely our favorite spot at the venue. It was a beautiful, sort of indoor/outdoor space. Which was wonderful, because the entire day there was a chance of rain. And because this area was roofed, it could have rained and it would have been fine!
Also the cocktail hour being in the gallery was such a neat way to use the space. After the ceremony, guests went inside while the courtyard was “flipped” into a reception space.
Three things you should steal from this wedding if you’re planning your own:
Tom Leonard gave a speech at this wedding because Jessica and Wes met while working at his store. So it was such a sweet idea to have someone who knows your “origin story” be able to come up and give a speech.
Not all the guests will know how y’all got together, so it’s a neat idea to have someone share that.
The DJ had the guests play a simple and quick game to have a winner from each table get the centerpieces at the end of the night.
We also love when our couples arrange for their florals to be donated after the wedding.
I will always love a small bridal party. Jessica and Wes decided to have just family as their bridal party members. Small bridal parties make for such a calm getting ready space – and keeping it to family is a great way to do that.
