Recently we have had clients asking us if we can get them a USB or CD of their images. And since this question has been coming up a lot, we thought we’d write a blog post about it. The short answer is no. The long answer is yes. And full answer is you don’t need it!
The no. We are Shoot and Share photographers, meaning we give the digital rights to our clients every time we shoot.
You can read more about what that means here. We don’t include a USB or a CD in our wedding or portrait collections, or even as an add on, instead we give a PASS gallery.
You can read more about PASS here. But in short, it’s an AMAZING online gallery were our clients will have all their images stored in the PASS cloud for 10 years! AND have the ability to download their full gallery, download just favorites, print straight from the gallery to a professional print lab, share to social media or email to friends and family, and access from any device (computer, phone, tablet, etc.).
The yes. If our clients really want a USB or CD, we will get it for them. We will take that gallery and put it onto a drive.. but…
You don’t need it! When we rave about PASS it isn’t just so our clients will buy in. It’s because that’s where OUR wedding gallery is, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. In fact we DID have it another way. Our amazing wedding photographer gave us a USB. A pretty little, custom made USB… that failed. I cried, Michael tried to calm me down, I ran to our gorgeous printed album to look at our wedding images, relieved I still had the printed album. Of course, our incredible photographer would get us our images again. But this time, she sent it to us in a PASS gallery. No more USB, because those fail. But instead, a secure, backed-up, downloadable, easy to access PASS gallery. We immediately downloaded them all and put them on two external hard drives. And breathed a huge sigh of relief. And THAT’S what we want for our clients. We want them to be confident that their images are secure. And we know, from experience, that a USB or a CD won’t provide that. But, a PASS gallery will.
