We’re back on the blog today sharing one of those truly lovely wedding days… Lauren and Josh’s beautiful wedding celebration at Poplar Springs Manor in Virginia.

Now, if you’ve ever had to drive anywhere near DC on a Saturday (especially for a wedding), you know it’s a bit of a gamble. But somehow, the wedding gods were smiling on this one because everything went so smoothly. Even the weather, which looked a little sketchy earlier in the week, ended up being just perfect. And honestly? Even if it had poured, Lauren would’ve been totally fine with it. She showed up with the best attitude—we’re getting married, rain or shine. That kind of energy set the tone for the whole day.

Poplar Springs Manor – Virginia Wedding

Poplar Springs Manor is tucked just outside Warrenton, Virginia, and it is such a magical setting for a wedding. The ceremony spot alone—a tree-lined drive that looks like it’s straight out of a movie—was stunning on its own. But you add Lauren and Josh to the mix? Instant fairytale!

From the very beginning of the day, Lauren and Josh were the calmest, kindest, most joy-filled couple. Just so present and completely wrapped up in each other in the best way. During their first look, we told Lauren to tap Josh on the shoulder and take their time. And wow, did they take their time. They just stood there together, soaking it all in, talking and crying and laughing, while reading personal vows to each other. It was one of those moments that reminded us why we love what we do.

Later, we saw a video one of their guests posted—she was watching from the window during sunset portraits, and wrote, “I just sat here and watched because it was so lovely.” That pretty much summed up the entire day. Just lovely. Watching them together felt like witnessing something soft and sweet and real.

Special Ceremony Moments

Their wedding ceremony was full of beautiful, personal touches. One of Josh’s childhood friends officiated, and we love when couples decide to include someone special as their officiant (he doubled as a groomsman too!). Lauren’s mom—who we had the pleasure of meeting during their engagement session—walked her down the aisle while her husband walked down just before them playing bagpipes. It was such a cool, unexpected moment. And honestly? Kinda gave us chills.

There was also a beautiful gesture during the ceremony where Lauren and Josh hugged their moms and took a moment to thank them. They were both tearing up, along with most of the guests! We always love when couples take time to honor their parents—it’s a small thing that means so much. Especially now that we’re parents ourselves, we feel it even deeper.

After the ceremony, Lauren and Josh took a beat to enjoy some cocktail hour snacks just the two of them. Then we took them out for a few sunset portraits before the reception started. And let us tell you—this crew knew how to toast. From Lauren’s mom’s heartfelt welcome, to the hilarious and emotional speeches from both her maid and matron of honor, to the dance floor that just wouldn’t quit—it was the kind of night you don’t want to end. We literally had to pull them off the dance floor so they could cut their cake!

The Paper Boys – Poplar Springs Manor Virginia Wedding

Also, we also have to shout out Sal from Paper Boys—their videographer. We had never worked with him before, and it’s always a little bit of a toss-up when you’re partnering with someone new. But Sal? Total pro. So respectful, communicative, and creative. He had a clear vision, and we worked together seamlessly all day long. Just a dream team situation.

Lauren and Josh, your wedding at Poplar Springs Manor was a joy to photograph and a gift to be part of. You two are something special, and we feel so lucky to have witnessed this day.

We kind of wish we could do it all over again this weekend. Is that weird?
