River Road Church Richmond Wedding

Happy New Year friends! This past weekend, we had the absolute pleasure of photographing Molly and Mason’s intimate River Road Church Richmond wedding here in RVA’s west end. If you’ve ever driven down River Road, you’ve undoubtedly noticed this iconic landmark. It’s a picturesque church with charm radiating from every corner, and this was our first time photographing a wedding there. Spoiler alert: it didn’t disappoint.

A Warm Ceremony on a Chilly Day

The wedding took place in River Road Church’s smaller, more intimate chapel, which was perfect for their guest list of just 30 close friends and family. Molly had mentioned beforehand to “look for doors with wreaths”. But when we arrived, we chuckled to find dozens of doors, all adorned with beautiful wreaths! Thankfully, she specified that they were green doors.

Inside, the chapel was cozy and full of warmth, even as temperatures outside hovered below freezing. Molly and Mason opted for a private first look indoors—a decision we fully supported. The intimate setting made for a touching moment as the two saw each other for the first time in the soft glow of the chapel. We stepped back to give them a quiet moment together.

Personal Elegance – River Road Church Richmond Wedding

Molly looked stunning in her winter gown, complete with feathered details and a cozy shawl. After the ceremony, she even donned her grandmother’s vintage mink for a few portraits, a sentimental and stylish choice. We love when couples incorporate personal touches like this—it makes the photos all the more meaningful.

During the ceremony, we captured the scene from the chapel’s balcony. This provided a beautiful view of the gathering below. Following the vows, we moved into family portraits and then braved the cold for a quick 10-minute outdoor session with the newlyweds. The results? Magical. Molly and Mason shone through every frame, making the chilly weather so worth it.

Why We Love Small Weddings

Small weddings hold a special place in our hearts. There’s something so intimate and heartfelt about celebrating with just your closest friends and family. Molly and Mason’s day was the perfect example. After their portraits, they headed off to a private reception at a nearby golf club, leaving us with a sense of joy and gratitude to have captured such a meaningful start to their married life.

Molly and Mason, thank you for trusting us with your day. Your love story was the perfect start to our year, and we’re so thrilled to share a few of our favorite moments from your beautiful River Road Church Richmond wedding.

Congratulations, and here’s to a lifetime of happiness!
