We’re so excited to share Abbey and Spencer’s Tredegar Libby Hill Richmond Engagement session, with stunning locations at both Tredegar Ironworks, and Libby Hill Park. After a bit of a break from Tredegar due to construction, it was amazing to return. The new amphitheater that is being built next to it has made us spend a little less time at this location, though you can’t even tell from our favorite spots. This spot feels like our home base, and getting back there felt just right.

Tredegar Ironworks – Tredegar Libby Hill Richmond Engagement

We started their session at Tredegar Ironworks at their iconic large black doors. Afterwards, we went walking through historic brick paths and around iconic landmarks. Tredegar’s old buildings and vibrant autumnal surroundings created the perfect backdrop. A favorite spot is the the historic watermill and backdrop of the original Tredegar building. It’s one of those places that makes you feel like you’re stepping back in time.

We then popped quickly over to the James River with Abbey & Spencer, and took a few while the train passed at the same time! It felt like such an iconic Richmond moment. It all came together at the perfect moment.

Libby Hill Park

After capturing some time at Tredegar, we wrapped up the session at Libby Hill. If you’re doing portraits at Libby Hill, we highly recommend a sunset slot for the soft, warm light that hits just right. In fact, we’ve done sunrise shoots here too, and there’s really no wrong choice; the weather was on our side this time, with beautiful skies and warm temperatures that made the whole session feel magical.

Abbey and Spencer were a joy to work with. You know those couples who just exude warmth, the kind you instantly want to be friends with? That’s them. They were relaxed, went with the flow, and trusted us completely to capture the moments in both locations. Their natural connection made our job easy; every pose looked effortlessly beautiful. We even ventured to some lesser-known spots at both Tredegar and Libby Hill.
