Today we are sharing Michelle and Mitch’s Poplar Springs Manor wedding day. It’s in Northern Virginia, I think closest to Warrenton. It’s a beautiful wedding venue, kind of in the middle of the forest.
It reminds me a little of the Mill at Fine Creek. There’s a water feature, a beautiful building, and a fantastic staff.
It was also the most beautiful weather day. I feel like early September in Virginia you never know what it’s going to be like. For example today it’s over 100°. But on their wedding day it was absolutely gorgeous.
We also loved their ceremony location. Whenever we go to any of that we haven’t photographed at before we will stalk other weddings online and look around at other photographers blogs who may have shot there before. And then we usually show up a bit early to kind of walk around the property and get sort of the lay of the land. So we were doing that for this wedding day and looking out where we assumed the ceremony would be but the venue coordinator came up to us and told us that they were actually doing their ceremony on the tree lined drive.
Which of all the many many weddings that we looked at from Poplar Springs Manor none of them had a ceremony in the spot. So it was a unique way to use the venue and turned out absolutely beautifully for their ceremony.
And then as a bonus they got to use the patio space for their cocktail hour and their guests were really able to enjoy the beautiful weather.
I also think that if they have used the patio space one of them would’ve had sun in their eyes for the entire thing. I think a lot of times that’s an overlooked thing when you’re planning a ceremony spot. So it was really nice that Michelle and Mitch got to have some beautiful shade.
I also loved the floral display that they had at their ceremony. Over the top flower shop made this beautiful grounded floral arch. Michelle and Mitch kept classic colors of green and white, so I was a little worried it wouldn’t pop very well – but it looked incredible.
We actually did the first look in their ceremony location which I thought was really beautiful. And then we were able to get all the bridal party and family done before the ceremony so they were really able to enjoy their cocktail hour. One of them any bonuses are doing our first look.
Another bonus is that when your timeline is set up like this, we also have time to get all the reception detail pictures as well as people socializing during cocktail hour. We also get to photograph this space when it’s totally ready for guests, so we’re not missing any details.
Poplar Springs Manor’s reception space is really beautiful with high ceilings and giant windows.
Enjoy some many of our favorites from this incredible Poplar Springs Manor wedding day.
Congrats you guys!
