On Sunday we met a beautiful couple, Marissa and Kendall, at Shagbark which is a really cool restaurant here in Richmond. Then we hopped on a trolley with about 15 of their family members to go do a really quick and intimate ceremony at Libby Hill.  It was a beautiful Downtown Richmond Elopement Style Wedding.

The rain stopped, the skies cleared.  Their family members surrounded the fountain at Libby Hill overlooking the city of Richmond.  Marissa and Kendall stepped off the trolley and walked to their ceremony together.  It was a quick and beautiful ceremony. 

Afterwards we took some portraits at Libby Hill, got on the trolley to enjoy some champagne, stopped off at Monument Ave for a few more portraits. Then ended the evening at Shagbark for an incredible 3 course meal with a few more of their friends and family members. 

Downtown Richmond Elopement Style Wedding

It was a gorgeous and low key day.  I think a lot of time people overthink wedding details.  And a lot of time people can get caught up in wedding planning and end up not sticking to what they really want to do.  Marissa and Kendall didn’t do this – they thought about what they wanted and didn’t get caught up in all the extra things. 

Elopement style events are just so beautiful.  If the big thing isn’t for you – just pick the things that are and go with it! 

Shagbark did such an amazing job with the dinner.  It was such a fun place to have a reception and such a nice treat for your guests.  They close down the entire restaurant and it was so beautiful. 

AND the rain held off for all the moments we really needed it to – which is incredible.  I love that they were able to do their ceremony outside and take portraits outside.  They are new favorites for sure. 

Her dress was amazing.  It was from BHLDN, a beautiful classic dress with a big fun bow on her shoulder.
