Our Maymont Park Richmond Engagement was the first of 2023, and an absolute blast with Bridget and John. We have a weird burst of working this week. Then, we’ll have more downtime before really starting off the 2023 wedding season. If you are new to Maymont, It’s a gorgeous park on the outskirts of the city of Richmond, and it’s beautiful every season of the year, including the winter!

Bridget and John are definitely our type of people – they don’t love having their pictures taken (just like us).  I know that’s weird to say as a photographer, but it’s true.  We know having your pictures taken can be uncomfortable, so we try to make the process as enjoyable as possible.  

The wonderful thing about doing an engagement session at Maymont is that we’re able to spend a lot of time getting to know you while we’re walking from place to place. Maymont is also a great Richmond engagement session location in the winter. There is a lot of variety and a lot of evergreens.  Maymont has a lot of areas that don’t just feature the nature. They have the mansion, the fountain, the Italian garden walkway, and the cobblestone.

I love shooting at the fountain. It’s one of my favorite spots at Maymont for pictures. It’s such a nice clean spot with a beautiful open background. And even in the winter it still has some beautiful greenery.. even though the fountain itself is empty. 

Also – I feel like we’ve had so many dreary overcast sessions lately, so it was really nice to see the sun!
