Hey friends today we are sharing Matthew and Molly’s Colonial Williamsburg garden engagement session that we just shot. 

Originally we were supposed to do this session  couple of weeks ago in Richmond. Then this shoot was also supposed to happen in Richmond, but both times rain was heavily in the forecast and it ended up thunder storming. 

So to prevent having to reschedule again, we met them in their neck of the woods. We traveled to Hampton Roads and met them in Colonial Williamsburg and it was absolutely beautiful. It was a little steamy and we had to tell them to wait in the car a few minutes because it was pouring rain right at the very beginning. But then we were able to do the rest of the session with no rain.

Colonial Williamsburg is such an amazing location for a shoot. There are so many areas of variety in that one space that it makes it really fun. You can find cool architecture, open fields, beautiful gardens all within a few blocks. The William and Mary Campus also has amazing areas for photography and it’s right there too. 

This session ended up being really long for a couple of reasons. First we scheduled it earlier in the day to avoid the storm so we weren’t losing light like we usually do. Secondly, they showed up in amazing outfits. I kind of got over excited and kept them in the first outfit for almost the length of an entire session. So we had to let them change and keep going.

We send out a style guide for planning your engagement session outfit, and they showed up in what I would hand select as the perfect outfits.  They were looking amazing. They admitted there first outfit was a favorite, so I didn’t feel too bad about keeping them in it for so long. 

We met Matthew and Molly through a mutual friend.  And referrals are our absolute favorite because we kind of already know ahead of time that they are going to be our kind of people.  And they definitely were.  I could have hung out with these two all day.. and we kind of did.
