Today we are sharing Jennifer and Ben’s downtown Richmond James River engagement session that we shot around the Tredegar Ironworks and Browns Island area.  We go down to the Tredegar area very frequently.  It’s one of our favorite portrait locations for engagement session in the Richmond area.  There is so much variety. 

Perfect Weather – downtown Richmond James River Engagement

It was especially nice for Jennifer and Ben session because it was about to rain. There weren’t a ton of people there, which we love! Also a bonus that the rain cooled the weather down a lot and gave us overcast skies which allowed us to shoot pretty much anywhere. Then the sun came out towards the end of their session so it was really the best of both worlds.

Jennifer and Ben were both so put together and so smiley that they were really just a pleasure to photograph. They took direction so well that by the end we really weren’t even saying anything… They just knew what to do!

This is all especially funny because when we first met them at the very beginning of the session they admitted that they had no idea what they were doing and if they were kind of nervous and they knew it was going to be super awkward. But it really wasn’t at all they just did such a good job in front of our cameras. They made it so easy.

They are getting married next spring at Upper Shirley which is a favorite wedding venue of ours. It’s so beautiful right on the James River. I’m so pumped to be able to photograph these two at such a gorgeous spot – it’s going to be amazing!
