Today we are sharing Ally and KJ’s Barns of Kanak fall wedding.

The Barns of Kanak is located south of Richmond in Prince George county. And it kind of comes out of nowhere. It’s actually really pretty driving up because you go through like farmland and then you can see all the barns and their silos popping up through the fields.

The Barns of Kanak actually has several buildings on the property. There is an old house where the girls got ready and they did a really good job renovating this property. It is absolutely made for girls getting ready on a wedding day. They have great furniture, big windows, light colored walls. It’s perfect. So often properties just have too much stuff.. but they kept rooms nice and open so everyone can fit and it doesn’t feel like you are on top of each other.

Then the guys had another little house to get ready in. And then there was the reception space which was this big beautiful barn. Then there was another more rustic barn that they got married in front of. And lots of other little buildings throughout the property.

The inside of the reception barn is so beautifully done. There are a great big chandeliers and gorgeous huge barn doors. It was just really well done.

Also the staff there is incredible. Abby who was the day of coordinator for this wedding did such a fantastic job and was so lovely to work with. The caterers they brought in were fantastic. The DJ Chris from Music Makes you Happy, we love.

Fall Wedding day timeline

The wedding day ran a little bit behind. Ally, our bride, was very calm and totally OK with it which is the perspective that you have to have on your wedding day. To just not super stressed out about five minutes here or there. Abby the coordinator did such a good job adjusting everything to make it flow super well and make sure that we still had time with them which is just so appreciated.

So we did the bulk of their pictures post ceremony because Ally and KJ chose not to do a first look. We started with their family and tons of kids because they have a lot of nieces and nephews. Then moved onto bridal party and finally had some time with just the two of them in the gorgeous big open fields.

Ally did such a good job planning her ceremony start time to make sure that she still had plenty of light for portraits afterwards. Which is definitely something that you need to keep in mind when you are planning a wedding.

And then once the reception started it was just such a fantastic party. Complete with a Mr. Softee soft serve ice cream truck. And even though it was pretty cold I think everyone in there got an ice cream cone and it was so fun!
