They were sharing a wedding that we just shot at one of our favorite places the Outer Banks. This wedding was at the Whalehead Club in Corolla beach, which is in the Northern part of the Outer Banks.
Kaitlyn and Joe were married there last weekend on a perfect fall day. A little cold in the evening but an otherwise ideal fall afternoon. It was sunny and bright all day.
The Whalehead Club is a really neat historic building in Corolla. It’s almost like an island, surrounded by water on the sound side.
I would say the only downside is that it was similar to their engagement session where it was really windy. Well if you’ve been to the Outer Banks it’s pretty much always windy. It’s the beach.
He and Kaitlyn make such a beautiful couple and it was such a fun day being able to spend time with their friends and family.
So we started the wedding day at Kaitlyn’s parent’s house in Corolla. That’s where we photographed all the details and getting ready. Then she had a first look with her dad and her uncle which was so sweet. I love that first looks with dads are becoming common, but I think it’s important not to just go with what everybody else does and include the important people in your life.
I thought that it was really sweet that Kaitlyn and Joe took the extra step to incorporate family throughout the day. Kaitlyn had made charms of their grandparents to include on her bouquet and for Joe to wear in his jacket.
And without knowing it Joe wrote in his letter about their grandparents. And about how their legacy of love has impacted their lives. He wrote about a picture of their grandparents that is on Kaitlyn and Joe’s mantle. And I just think it’s so special and such an honor to think that one day one of these pictures we took could be on their grandkids mantle.
Joe got ready at an Inn on the other side of their wedding venue. It was really cool and I wish we could have spent more time there.
We took as many pictures of the bridal party beforehand as possible because they didn’t do a first look. The Whalehead Club actually had a really great bridal suite in a little building off to the side for Kaitlyn to wait at before the ceremony.
The ceremony was right on the water. On the sound side of the Outer Banks.
I am portraits were some of my favorite. We got to walk by the water and by the reeds and at this beautiful bridge. They also head such beautiful sunset.
Anyways enjoy a few of our many many favorites from this beautiful Whalehead Club OBX wedding day we love you guys.
Congrats!
