Today we are sharing Mary and James’ Castle Hill fall engagement session that we shot a Castle Hill Cider in Charlottesville, Virginia.

If you haven’t been to Castle Hill cider it is totally worth a visit. It’s about an hour away from Richmond, an easy drive, and an amazing place to shoot. 

I agree with all of that and would add they have a really delicious cider and snacks.

We shot a session on a Friday and we had to shoot a little early because there was a wedding taking place. So definitely check to make sure they do not have an event there on that day if you are looking to do a shoot there. They are a very popular wedding venue. So definitely plan ahead. 

The sad thing is we won’t ever be able to see Mary and James’ wedding venue because we are not their wedding photographers.  Is extremely rare that we would ever photograph a couple for only their engagement session. In fact the only reason that we made this exception for Mary and James is because they’re getting married out of state. 

They were referred to us by one of our past clients and one of our future clients both of whom we just adore. And Mary and James were so similar in that they were very laid back and so much fun to work with.

Booking a fall engagement session

To be clear we love shooting engagement sessions. But one of the main reasons we love engagement sessions is to get to know more clients a little bit better. It’s so important to us that we are able to walk into a wedding day and feel like old friends rather than vendors. So we love being able to get to know you at the engagement session because we are going to spend so much time with you on the wedding day, we want you to feel comfortable with us.

Do you believe this very strongly. Which is why, even if you’re not our wedding clients, we will recommend that you shoot your engagement session with your wedding photographer.  We want to make sure that you were able to have the same relationship with your own wedding photographer.

Anyways, this was an absolute blast of a session.  Mary and James were up for anything the whole time and were such lovely people to get to know.  

I’m so sad we won’t be there, but have a wonderful wedding day! Congratulations!
