Today we are sharing Emma and Tom’s Foundry at Tredegar Richmond Wedding.
We shot Emma and Tom’s engagement session a while back at Tredegar as well. If you haven’t been to Tredegar, they recently remodeled their event space. It is just a large open brick building – now called the Foundry.
It’s just big doors, big windows, brick walls, and beams. It’s gorgeous. I’m going to say it’s my favorite wedding venue in Richmond.
It’s GORGEOUS.
And Bryce was their wedding planner did such a good job styling the inside. He had these twinkle lights hanging from the beams that lit up the room so beautifully. He did a spectacular job styling the inside.
If you’re looking for something super bright this probably isn’t the venue for you. It’s a bit dark but it is so cool. It’s in a great location. They do have big windows. And granted.. Emma and Tom did get married in the middle of a huge rain storm.
I just love the indoors of the Foundry. What’s the street from the entrance to Belle Isle. There are tons of different shooting locations around. The building itself is just a beautiful historic brick building, so you have that. But there is also a green hill on one side, and the water on the other side.
We really didn’t venture around as much as we typically would on a wedding day.. Because it was like 110° and the guys were in full suits. And then it also stormed.
The original plan was to have the ceremony outside. But Bryce convinced them to make the call to move it indoors and thank goodness that they did. Halfway through their ceremony it started pouring rain.
We saying today is get yourself a Bryce.
Yes, get a Bryce. I will link all of his information here.
Lead Richmond Planner – Bryce Carson
Planners make such an enormous difference on the wedding day.
I could spend all day talking about how amazing planners are. And the difference between a planner and a venue coordinator because they are very different. You want someone who is detached from the venue, who is just there to serve you. And that is what Bryce.
Bryce was there when we arrived a the hotel they got ready at. They had a shuttle that brought them over. They did a first look, which was amazing because if they hadn’t it would have been pouring rain during picture time.
We were able to pull them for 10 minutes for sunset portraits where there was a break in the rain.
What was your favorite part of the wedding day?
Hank! Who came to the engagement session as well, showed up halfway through their wedding ceremony. They read an adorable passage about how lover is like dogs and then a friend walked him up to the altar. It was adorable.
A family friend sang a song during the ceremony. And she did such a great job. I’d say 9 out of 10 times, a friend singing during the ceremony doesn’t go wonderfully, but this girl was incredible! Everyone was in tears- it was so beautiful.
The song was – Leon Bridges, Beyond.
Well those would have been my two. I’d have to say her dad’s speech. He was obviously not hugely into give a speech in front of everyone, but he did such a good job. How the first time he met Tom they came to visit his dad at a nursing home and he really wasn’t doing well. About how Tom really made an effort to get to know him and be kind while they were there. Then, while they were leaving, Tom bent down and give him a kiss on his forehead. And I can just see Tom doing that.
Both Emma and Tom are just the absolute sweetest people. So genuine and so kind.
There were about a thousand other cute moments from the day. But mostly it was just a great party. They knew what was important to them – and they just focused on that and had a good time.
And everybody stayed the entire time. They had a long reception and had us stay until the very end, and I think everybody else did too. The band was really good too – Heads up Penny.
I thought that too. When we were outside to do the bubble exit I was like “wow there are still a lot of people here.” It was such a good time.
Anyways, go enjoy a few of our favorites. Congratulations Emma and Tom, we love y’all.
