Sunrise National Mall engagement

The engagement session we’re talking about today was a sunrise session, so that does help my voice. But I’m so excited to share this sunrise national mall engagement today.

Michael and Kim decided to do their engagement session in DC at the monuments. We spent most of our time at the Lincoln Memorial.

It was a sunrise shoot, which means Kim started doing her hair and make up at 3 o’clock in the morning.Which is crazy, but she looked FLAWLESS.

They are the sweetest people ever. They walked up to their session and Michael was wearing a perfectly fitted blue suit. Kim was wearing a gorgeous white dress that fit her perfectly. Her hair and make up look completely flawless.

We’re so excited to do the session from the second we saw them.

We got our cameras out to start shooting and Kim looked at me and said “we’re really nervous because we’re not photogenic at all.”

I died.

They looked so perfect, had perfect outfits, were so cute together. The entire time I was thinking ‘how dare you tell me you’re not photogenic’. They killed it.

It’s actually funny. The last sunrise session we did which was in New York City had very similar outfits.

Fitted suit and a long flowy dress. It’s my favorite engagement session attire.

Sunrise National Mall engagement – Lincoln Memorial

We arrived and there was a HUGE group of people working out.We scheduled this sunrise session to avoid people at the monuments, and then we was this huge group of people working out. It was kind of insane.

Once they left, it was pretty clear. Sunrise session make it so much easier to shoot at the national mall in DC.

After we shot a few in front of the reflecting pool and at the bottom of the stairs at the Lincoln Memorial, we walked up to the side where they have the columns. Usually we are battling lots of other photographers for that space but we were able to take our time and was there for a while without being in anyone’s way.

Sunrise at the DC War Memorial

Per usual, we took way too long in their first outfit.

But they changed and we walked across the reflecting pool to another monument. It’s a massive stone gazebo. Those were a few of my favorites.

I could say that every spot was my favorite for this session.

And Kim and Michael were so sweet, it was so nice spending time with them.

When they walked up for their session they had a little bag with them with treats for us. It was from Tatte which is one of our favorite bakeries. It’s originally from Boston where Laura’s sister live and she’s obsessed with them.

And they brought us chocolate croissants which was so nice because we didn’t have a chance to get breakfast before their sunrise shoot. So thoughtful of them.

I know I saw this for all our couples, but you just feel like you could be best friends with them.We get to work with the absolute sweetest people.

Enjoy a few of our many favorites.

Congrats you guys!
