Today we are sharing Kristen and Allen’s intimate wedding at the Clifton Inn in Charlottesville.
This was our first time shooting at the Clifton Inn and it is beautiful. It is a large plantation house on the top of the hill with a beautiful property. You can stay in different areas on the property. There is a guest house and small lake.
It’s a hidden gem just an hour away from our house in Richmond.
There is also a garden there that they grow things to use at your restaurant.
I think it is actually a two-part wedding venue. There’s the Clifton court tent which is their larger wedding venue and the Clifton Inn front lawn (where we shot) that hosts smaller weddings like this one.
The house was really cool. They didn’t use the regular bridal suite, instead they used the library downstairs. It was a really cool room with the jewel tones which went perfectly with Kristen and Allen’s wedding theme which was a Geo-colored scheme.
We did their first walk in the garden right outside the Clifton Inn building. If you go to their website there are people playing croquet there and it would be like a perfect place for it. It’s a flat grassy area surrounded by beautiful flowers.
This also worked out perfectly for this wedding because all of the florals were wildflower themed. It was so pretty.
Then we did more portraits right outside the house. You can’t go wrong at the Clifton, there are so many beautiful areas for wedding portraits.
Their ceremony was outside in front of the building. With a backdrop of the beautiful hills – so picturesque.
Speaking of the ceremony, my sister was actually the officiant. Kristen is one of my sister’s oldest friends. I think they’ve been best friends since they were like 12 when Kristen moved to Virginia from West Virginia.
My parents came, our son Niles came. We shot Kristen’s sister’s wedding years ago. Kristen’s mom is a good friend of the family. It was wonderful feeling like we were just surrounded by friends the whole day.
The guys getting ready space at the Clifton Inn is in the basement. It’s like a old wine cellar – it was really cool. They had old casts they were using down there.
Allen was so sweet, weird it was the first time we had met him, because Kristen feels like family.
Anyways, we loved the Clifton Inn, and absolutely adore Kristen and Allen. Enjoy a few of our many favorites from their intimate wedding at the Clifton Inn.
Congrats you guys!
