So today we are talking about Katlin and Matt’s Wisteria Farms fall Richmond wedding that we photographed this past weekend. Katlin and Matt are sweet friends of ours and got married at Wisteria Farms – Wisteria on Ivey. It’s a beautiful venue it in the southside of Richmond in Chesterfield. It’s actually a converted horse barn. So the cocktail hour, the bar, the food set up and everything was inside the horse barn actually in stalls of the barn.
But it is totally renovated and has this really neat vintage furniture inside. It’s very well done. And upstairs is the bridal suite. We walked upstairs and I was like ‘whoa’. I wasn’t expecting it. It is this beautiful open, white room with great light. And it has balconies on both sides. It was awesome. A was a really cool space.
Then the guys got ready at the house on the property. It was in the basement. They had a pool table there and shuffleboard. It’s always fun when there are different activities in the guys getting ready space for them to do while getting ready.
It was really fun shooting at a new venue but really the whole team of vendors for this wedding were just incredible. But even the vendors that we didn’t get to see, like the bakery and the florists hit it out of the park. The cake was so good. It was a cookie cake so I am a little biased. When Katlin told me she was going to do that, I flipped. It was freaking delicious.
The hair and make up team were amazing. The suits and dresses were gorgeous. The videographer was great to work with. The DJ was awesome.. he brought it. Officiant was really sweet.. the planners were amazing.
Feel like we haven’t had a wedding that has gone that smoothly and on time in a long time. It was the perfect Wisteria Farms fall Richmond wedding day.
It was the dream team of vendors. (see the bottom of this post)
Anyways let’s get to Katlin and Matt. They were the real stars of the day.
Katlin and Matt are the absolute sweetest couple. I know Katlin from teaching with her and so she is going through all the craziness of virtual teaching right now. I’m guessing she planned her wedding date thinking that we would be on intercession, like not having school. But now she’s in the midst of the craziest time.
I can only imagine the stress she is going through. But she was such a chill bride.
It was such a relaxed and fun day. I mean, yes, because the vendors were totally on point. But their attitudes were so great. And just to be able to see the two of them interacting the whole day was really just amazing.
They were laughing the whole time. Matt said like right away, in the morning, my face hurts because we were just smiling so much.
I think he actually said that to me at their first look. I think Katlin would be OK with me sharing this because the videographer already shared a clip of it. But it was so cute. As we were walking up Katlin asked me if it was OK to kiss Matt.
And I was like go for it! It’s one of the reasons I love first looks so much. Because if you see each other at the ceremony for the first time you have to be so formal. But I do first look you can run up and hug him and kiss him and twirl around in your dress and it’s relaxed and fun.
They had the sweetest first look. But then the whole rest of the day it was just so fun watching the two of them interact. I think the theme of this day was finally. I think everybody was so excited that these two are finally getting married. They have been together for a long time and have been through so much together. It was so joyful.
Even had their dog come for a little while. Millie showed up right after the first look. She is a golden doodle. And they used some pictures that we took when she was a puppy as the table number cards at the reception. Millie also came to the engagement session and they were a few pictures from that on the table cards as well.
Another really cool thing from their wedding was their ceremony. They had all these cool vintage chairs. Also have these big couches for the parents of Katlin to Matt to sit on. And they were gorgeous.
Right outside the horse barn is where they got married. And had this big beautiful door as the background of their ceremony. And a ton of florals to decorate it which looked amazing.
We actually got three different portrait times with them throughout the day. Just little chunks of time. Because they really wanted to be able to go to the cocktail hour. Matt really wanted some queso that was served at the cocktail hour so we made sure he got some of that.
Then what I really loved about their wedding day was there music choices. I just thought all of the song choices were so cute. The song that the bridal party walk down the aisle to at the ceremony was adorable. I won’t torture you by singing it but I’ll link it for you.
And their first dance song was another song I had never heard and it was adorable. It was a country song and it was like ‘I don’t wanna change anything about you but I do want to change your last name’. It was adorable.
And the songs that they chose for their first dances with her dad and mom were so cute. And the tears that came from people during that was insane. Everyone was bawling.
You can’t forget about the glow in the dark bubble guns. Real investment that should get a serious shout out are those bubble guns. It was so cool. The bubble guns were a favor but also for the exit.
They were AWESOME. So fun. I think a few people took them and brought them to the dance floor.
I think more venues are being strict about using or not using sparklers as an exit. So this was a great alternative to sparklers while still getting something really fun and colorful.
Very notable.
Now you can enjoy a few of our favorites from this Wisteria Farms fall Richmond wedding. Congratulations Katlin and Matt we love you both so much.
