So today we are sharing an engagement session that we took at the venue, the barn at Edgewood, in Stanardsville, Virginia.
We talked about this earlier. But Edgewood is one of my favorite places to shoot at. It’s beautiful white barn. It has been converted. The upstairs is too beautiful getting ready spaces. Downstairs is the whole reception area. The doors open on both sides so it is very open to the fields, and hills of the blue ridge mountains.
The mountainous region. It really is absolutely beautiful. They have a big lake on the property, some beautiful mature trees and across the street from them is a cattle farm. So a huge open area with beautiful cows.
It’s super picturesque.
The drive up is just gorgeous. And then when you get to the top of the hill at Edgewood, there is this amazing overlook of mountains.Â
So that is where we went for Amber and Josh’s engagement session.
Amber and Josh are getting married at Edgewood next year, and they really wanted to be able to go to their venue, back to Edgewood, to be able to do their engagement session.
And so we were there shooting a wedding that we shared earlier, Sara and Chris. So we were able to arrange us staying and being able to meet them later that evening.
Timing worked out well. We did have a little bit of rain on the day, but that was OK because Amber and Josh crushed it.
And Edgewood does have spots that have great overhangs. So if it is sprinkling a little bit, or if it started raining a little harder we were able to no underneath. And it’s all a white building, so even in the overcast and getting closer to sunset, you still have great light in there that will look amazing.
That is what I was going to say. Edgewood has these green areas where if for some reason it does rain, they have areas where you can have gorgeous pictures anyways.
Amber and Josh were just the sweetest couple and such troopers. I kept asking if it was OK if we just stepped out in the rain for a little bit, in this other location. And they were like absolutely let’s go wherever you want.Â
And we so appreciate that. We were able to just pop in and out from the overhangs. And also were able to walk around and take advantage of some of the barn at Edgewood’s beautiful features such as gorgeous white picket fence, the field at the top of the hill where you can see the beautiful Mountain View, and further away where you can see the barn.
It was just really nice that what they were up for anything, even in the rain, to be able to take advantage of Edgewood’s gorgeous property.
And we did have them walk around all over the property. In the wet grass.
I did maybe ask them to sit in the wet grass. And they didn’t even blink.
It is truly beautiful there and Amber and Josh were such troopers.
Enjoy some of our favorite from their session.
