So today we thought we would talk about our first wedding of the year… a Barn at Edgewood coronavirus mini-wedding.
I was actually very exciting to be able to go out and do what we love again. So many weddings pushed until 2021 because of the coronavirus. But some couples have decided you know what they want to go ahead and get married and then next year they will just celebrate.
A lot of couples are choosing to do many weddings and just a ceremony. And then they will do the reception when hopefully things are back to normal.
And so Sara and Chris decided to do just that.
They were able to have their mini wedding at the same place they are going to do the reception. It’s at the Barn at Edgewood, in Standarsville.
The most gorgeous place on earth.
It’s so pretty.. absolutely gorgeous. We have shot there before. The people who run it are absolutely fantastic. Beautiful property. It has this gorgeous big white barn with apartments up top where the bride and groom can get ready. Now Sara and Chris didn’t need to use many of these features for this because it was really just them and their immediate family. It was really special.
I think it is important especially for Sarah and Chris to get married on the day they plan to from the beginning.
I think it’s been a really emotional time for a lot of brides and grooms trying to figure out re-planning and changing everything. So when that original day comes, gosh I can’t even imagine what people are feeling. So it was really nice that they were able to go and just say their vows together and officially get married on that date.
I know that if that had happened to us we would have wanted to do the same thing. We would’ve definitely done the same thing. We almost just went ahead and did a tiny ceremony anyway.
And I think that’s what’s really cool. A lot of brides are reflecting and saying that this was terrible to go through all of this but it was really nice to be able to have this intimate day.
And honestly even from our perspective, so I think hugely from theirs, it was such a calm day. On a real wedding day there’s so many things happening and the tensions and the emotions are so high. This mini wedding.. I mean Chris came early, he was already dressed. His family came with him and we went and took pictures with them. Sarah showed up and we hid her away. And they just went straight into the ceremony.Â
And it was so nice and relaxing. Then after everyone kind of hugged and hung out. And then what I love is that they contacted their caterer and picked up food from them and ordered a teeny cake from their baker. So they really had a true mini wedding. Just like what they’re going to do next year on their first year anniversary. Which is really cool. So it was a wonderful day to celebrate.
And they decided to get married a little earlier in the day. Just coming in from out of town. But because it was overcast it was just perfect.
We actually tried to convince them to push it till later. But they couldn’t for a number of reasons. But I’m actually glad they didn’t because it was overcast and the light was perfect. And it actually rained in the evening. So thank you for not listening to us Sara and Chris.
Normally it is good when people listen to us. Because in the evening the sun is so much better.. but because it was so overcast, and then the weather turned, the light was ideal.
So we just wanted to share a few of those from their small intimate wedding. Sarah and Chris we hope you enjoy. We can’t wait till next year.
Love you both.
Their engagement session was also in the mountains, and it was beautiful!
