We arrived the earliest we ever have to a wedding. And we waved the newlyweds goodbye as they drifted off on a pontoon boat in the mid-afternoon. The weather was absolutely perfect after a week of blistering heat and pouring rain (I guess that’s Virginia summers for ya).. And it may go down as one of our favorite weddings! We absolutely loved this morning wedding in our hometown of Midlothian. The Boathouse is the most gorgeous venue and sits right on the Swift Creek Reservoir. And Maggie and Alex are the absolute sweetest and fun loving pair.
When Maggie’s sweet sister, Devon, came up to give her toast, she introducing herself and shared that family means a lot to them. And that the room was filled with Mausts and pseudo-Mausts. That everybody in that room with them was family and that she was so happy to now have a brother now as a part of that family. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. And you could really feel the atmosphere of love and family. These two have such an amazing support system behind them full of two big and incredible families and a whole lot of pseudo family. And this was just infused throughout their day. From their bridal party getting ready at Maggie’s family home, to wearing her mom’s wedding dress (the one that her older sister also wore) adored her grandmother’s pearls, to the sweetest mother son dance as Alex’s mom struggled to hold back tears, and a rowdy father daughter dance.  Maggie and Alex have been engaged for a long time. Alex is part of the military so they’ve had to wait to find a time where he’d be home. And it was so wonderful to be a part of the celebration of them finally becoming husband and wife!!!
