To be honest.. When we first started shooting weddings, we were lost. This is a crazy industry to just jump into and that’s exactly what we did. We jumped. While lots of people start by second shooting, or tailing other photographers, we never did. Those first few crazy couples who trusted us, have all our love, because their weddings taught us some invaluable lessons. But they have been hard lessons to learn. And now the industry is flooded with talent, and it’s easier than ever to start your own creative business. For many people, that means competition and trying to one-up everyone else.
But now there are some incredible communities that creatives can be a part of to help them all learn and grow. One of these AMAZING communities is the Rising Tide Society. It’s a group that is all about #communityovercompetition. If you are a creative entrepreneur, or in a creative small business… if you’re an artist, blogger, calligrapher, designer, event planner, florist, makeup artist, photographer, stylist, writer.. or in any other creative field and not a part of the Rising Tide Society, go join. They host monthly “Tuesdays Together” meetings in tons of cities around the US, and even around the world! These meetings foster incredible relationships in the midst of what can be a very lonely industry.
Last month’s meeting, the Hampton Roads group got together and had a GIANT styled shoot at the gorgeous Obici House in Suffolk, Virginia. Tons of creatives contributed and TONS of photographers shot two gorgeous set ups. We can’t wait to show you the whole thing, but here’s a little teaser for now..
a husband and wife photography team based in Richmond, Virginia (though we LOVE to travel!). We hope you enjoy browsing some of our most recent work, reading our tips and tricks for brides, and taking a little peek into our life.
