Monday Crafternoons | Intro

I was a serious DIY bride.  In fact, I think I maybe took it a little too far.  My mother would DEFINITELY say I took it too far, but the truth is, I LOVED it!  Planning our wedding was so much fun and making all our little details by hand made it even more enjoyable.  Seriously.. There were a lot of details.  The cake, my veil, the guys bowties, all the flowers – bouquets and boutonnieres, the centerpieces, the welcome area (including the paper cones to be filled up with treats), the jam favors made from handpicked fruits, the many, many strands of bunting, the guestbook, the invitations, our save-the-date video, the welcome bags, all of it.. It was all done ourselves (and with help from some amazing loved ones).  So many people told me to slow down and pass off some of these things to professionals, that it would stress me out too much (and while icing your wedding cake minutes before your ceremony in your wedding dress probably isn’t advised, I loved it.  All those little details screamed Michael & Laura.. ’cause we were the ones to put it all together.  Our wedding day was completely “us”.

So while I realize that not every bride is an over-the-top DIYer.. I do think every bride (or lots of brides) tries her hand at being a little crafty and making her details super personal.. Which is something we LOVE!  So this has inspired another new series.  The DIY Brides’ Monday Crafternoons.  At least one Monday a month we will have step-by-step instructions for turning those pinterest dreams into a reality.  I’ll break down the cost, the difficulty level, the time it will take, the materials you’ll need.. Everything to make adding a little DIY touch a little easier.

If there is anything you’d love for us to add to our series, write it in the comments and we will do our best to try it out.  And if you’re a bride in need of help and would like to be featured on our blog, we will meet with you and walk you step-by-step through your DIY project.  Or, if you did an awesome DIY project for your own wedding, write that one too!!!   We love hearing new ideas.

Happy Crafting

xoxo
