We love date nights. Whether it’s dinner and a movie, or roaming around a mega store (see Part I), we know it’s important in any marriage or relationship, to set intentional time to be together. Our definition of a date is a loose one.. We just encourage you to be purposeful, joyful, and loving in your time together. This is our series to record our date nights and give you ideas and encouragement to continuously date each other.
For this week’s date we braved the summer heat and played tennis, grabbed some lunch at my FAVORITE restaurant in the world, and finished the day off with Rita’s and a walk around my old campus. It was an amazinggg day!
The Date: Tennis, lunch, and dessert!
Cost: Split a sandwich at Anderson $15, 2 treats at Ritas: $10
How to: We don’t belong to a tennis club or anything, we just play at a local high school. It was crazzzy hot, so we only hit around and played one set.. Michael won, as always. I hung in there though! A little friendly competition does us good. After we were dripping and exhausted we headed to the greatest thing Newport News has to offer.. Anderson’s Showplace Cafe. Now friends, if you haven’t been to Anderson’s do yourself a favor and go there NOW (but only if it’s before 4pm :/.. they are only open for breakfast and lunch). But seriously, if you want to know the way to my heart, it’s a Tragermeister Sandwich.. smoked turkey, bacon, gouda, slaw, and sundried tomatoes in between to thick pieces of homemade tomato basil sourdough bread. I. Die. OK.. so go eat that.. in fact we split one so we could fit in dessert.. so go split that, then head to Rita’s, the perfect dessert on a hot summer day. Mango Misto shake? Yes, please. We took our frozen treats with us and walked across the street and roamed around CNU’s beautiful campus. #captainforlife
Time sensitive?: Nope. But if your doing lunch, I’d head out in the morning.
Location: Tennis at a nearby high school, Anderson’s is off Jefferson Ave. in Newport News, and Rita’s is right across the street from CNU.
Approximate Time: 4 hours
Preparation needed?: Tennis racket and tennis balls are all you need!
And I had to include a couple straight from the phone of my CNU’s amazing campus…
Please, someone tell me you want a session taken here! Seriously, contact us if you’re interested!
Enjoy your date, and love one another deeply. If you’d like more date night ideas, check out our series. And make sure you let us know how your date goes in the comments!
