So today we are sharing Grayson and Dillon’s Waverly Estate wedding.
So if you don’t know where Waverly Estate is you are not alone. It is in Lunenburg, Virginia which is like an hour and 10 minutes south of Chesterfield County. It is kind of in the middle of nowhere but once you get there it is just spectacular. Such a cool venue. It is an old home with beautiful rooms and great light.
They also have a historic chapel on the property which is beautiful. Big, open, and white. It is another really cool ceremony location and not when you what you think of when you think of historic chapel.
We also did bridals for Grayson at Waverley estate and did about half of them in the chapel because it was so pretty inside. We’ll have to blog those bridals because it was one of my favorite sessions. I took so many pictures that day.
Waverly estate also just built a permanent tent structure on their property. It’s sort of looks like a tent but it’s a real building. And all of the sides are just big windows that you can slide open.
It was hilarious, during the cake cutting Dillon opened to the door in the corner where the cake was because he knew Grayson was about to smash cake in his face. So he was able to just run out. The sliding doors come in handy.
The building itself has a whole section with a fireplace and bathrooms and a gorgeous balcony area. So it’s a perfect mix between a tent and a finished building. It’s perfect for photographers; the light is so pretty.
Grayson and Dillon had fantastic details. This post is going to be full of detail pictures. Their florals was gorgeous. Dillon’s aunt made the cake. They had candlesticks as their centerpieces and greenery on the bridal table. Their invitation was pure white and so timeless.
The guys getting ready area is in the basement and has a pool table and bar. It’s such a fun area.
Grayson was actually my student teacher back when I was a teacher. She was just a gem and I’m so glad we were able to get together again and shoot their wedding.
We shot their engagement session a while back. They came to Richmond and we went to Belle Isle and Tredegar with their dogs. And that seems like forever ago now. It was pre-Covid.
It’s so funny because that’s when I first met Dillon. Which is so weird because I felt like I had known him forever. They have been together for 11 years.
All the speeches were like.. “all right I guess we can finally call you family, even though you’ve felt like family forever”. I felt like the whole wedding was just a big family gathering. They are both from a small town and I think the whole town just showed up.
Every single person just loved and cared for everyone that was there. You could feel that the whole day. It was such a sweet thing to be able to be a part of.
And then showing up on the wedding day I felt the same thing about Emma, her sister. I felt like I had known these people forever from Grayson talking about them. You can just feel that there is so much love in this town. So it was nice to finally see and be a part of that.
On the wedding day they decided to get married at this one great tree that is behind the house. They set up a little semi circle of chairs. They initially wanted to get married in that little chapel but because of Covid and all the craziness they wanted to be able to switch it outside. So for this to be the back up location it is just stunning. It backs up straight to the house so Grayson was able to walk straight down the stairs and into the ceremony.
Grayson walking down the aisle with her dad was one of my favorite pictures.
They did a first look at the two of them which was adorable and then I’m coming down the aisle was just so sweet.
Both the Dads gave a speech at the ceremony and they both said you have been family for so long and we’re glad that it’s official. They both teared up giving speeches.
Enjoy a few of our many, many favorites from the day.
And come back because we’ll be sure to share Grayson’s bridals!
Congrats you guys, love you both!
