We’re excited because this past weekend we had our first full wedding of the year.. And it’s September… It was a James River Virginia Wedding!
I counted. Well I didn’t count I put it into Google and Google counted for me it was 301 days since we have shot a wedding together. That is a lot of days.
Going back to pre-Niles existence.
First full wedding.. we have had a few mini weddings in between there. We’ve been blessed to be really busy in such a crazy time.
To shoot a full wedding was just so exciting. This is what we do, this is what we love. To be away from it for so long was hard. So it was really nice to go for eight hours and start to finish shoot a full wedding day.
So Emily and Nathan were the people who got married at their James River Virginia Wedding. They are the couple. They got married at a camp called Chanco on the James. It is a place that Emily went as a child but they both worked there.
They met when they were camp counselors there. They had their first kiss there. Which is where we did their first look. Which I just thought it was so adorable, and a really fun way to make their wedding super personal to them and really meaningful.
In the campground they’re like the actual camp/places they stayed in where they had their first kiss. It was much more basic than I had thought. They called it a chalet. It’s like a roof and it’s surrounded by mosquito wire in for mattresses and that’s pretty much it. And there’s like four of them with a fire pit in the middle.
What I really love is that their original plan. They actually had to postpone they were supposed to get married back in May. Their original plan was to have a big wedding and everyone was going to come stay at the camp and have like an adult camp weekend. Which I think would have been so fun. But thankfully they are still going to do that just next year. And I’m really hoping we get invited to crash.
They threw out the words beer Olympics when talking about plans for next year.. I’m envisioning capture the flag, s’mores, some competitive games and I just think it will be so much fun.
Emily’s sister, Mel, it’s super talented and designed a bunch of stuff for the wedding. Including a cute jean jacket for Emily. Anyways I am trying to convince her to make T-shirts for everyone for next year.
That was their original plan. But they had to narrow it down to I believe 20 people. It was all outside. Ceremony was outside, reception was outside, to try to be as safe as possible with just their immediate family and bridal party.
And then next year they’ll do it big.
But they did actually get married on their original day.. Or near it. Back in May. And already took their honeymoon. They rented like a VW van and went to a ton of national parks.
Basically they are our people and we love them so much.
They had a fantastic wedding day. It was beautiful fall weather. The camp is right on the James River . It had absolutely stunning views and was just really fun to be able to spend the day with them.
Yeah as you drive up and go to the furthest part to where they had everything it opens up to the James River. There’s a little field and some trees with an opening to see a view of the James.
In front of that is where they had their ceremony looking out at the James. And they had music blasting as soon as we drove up; it was a party. That was exactly how the whole day felt. The whole day was nice and enjoyable relaxing. They all had so much fun.
So enjoy a few of our favorites from this wonderful, perfect, full wedding day.
Congrats Emily and Nathan!
