We instantly loved these two.  They are just our kinda people.  The perfect mix of insanely kind, a little messy, goofy, and madly in love all wrapped up in a gorgeous little package.  When chatting back and forth with Merrill trying to decide on a location for their engagement shoot, all Merrill requested was nature and a bit of water.  These two are from Maryland and were willing to come all the way to Hampton Roads for this shoot.. but after suggesting Belle Isle, we decided to meet in Richmond instead.  We adore Belle Isle.. and all things Richmond.. but we are always a tad hesitant to suggest it as a location… and it takes a little bit of a hike to find locations.. but Merrill and Alex were all for it.  Our first try at their engagement shoot got rained out.. and their reschedule happened while the James River was still under a flood advisory.. meaning the gorgeous rocks Belle Isle is known for were under a foot of raging water.  Regardless, we found a couple water spots and managed to sneak in a snow cone break mid-session.  So overall it was a win 😉
